Česká republika si zvolila za své reprezentanty pro Eurovizi v Moskvě skupinu Gipsy.cz. Diváci v hlasování rozhodli, že budou soutěžit s písní „Aven Romale“.

Gipsy.cz je romská kapela, která kombinuje rap s romskou hudbou. Frontmenem skupiny je šestadvacetiletý Radoslav „Gipsy“ Banga, který se během posledních let vypracoval na jednu z nejzajímavějších osobností české hip hopové scény. O tom svědčí nominace na hudební ceny Anděl 2005 či Alma 2005. V roce 2006 dokonce Anděla získal jako Objev roku, v roce 2007 vyhrál cenu Alma v kategorii World Music. Dlouho byl frontmenem české hip hopové formace Syndrom Snopp. S projektem Roma hip hopu dobyl festivaly Colours of Ostrava či Trutnov. Pod jménem Ramonis působil také na popové scéně a napsal text ke skladbě „Letím ke hvězdám“ pro první ročník soutěže Česko hledá Superstar. Spolupracoval na debutové desce „Busted“ zpěváka Sámera Issy,  pod jménem Gipsy vydal dvě sólové desky „Ya Favourite CD Rom“ a „Rýmy a blues“.

Největší úspěch ale sklízí jeho aktuální projekt Gipsy.cz. Kapelu dále tvoří houslisté Vojtěch Lavička a Noemi Fialová (od roku 2009) a tři studenti a absolventi Ježkovy konzervatoře Oliver Lipenský (bicí), Tibor Žida (kytara) a Matěj Černý (basová kytara). Od ledna roku 2006 do února 2009 hráli ve skupině bratři Petr a Jan Surmajové. V listopadu 2006 vyšla skupině první deska „Romano Hip Hop“, stejnojmenný singl z tohoto alba se dokonce probojoval do World Chart Express na MTV. Gipsy.cz mají za sebou úspěšné koncertování v Koreji, Anglii, Francii či v Portugalsku, předloni vystoupili na legendárním festivalu v Glastonbury. V roce 2007 kapela soutěžila v Eurosongu s písní „Muloland“, o rok později to byla skladba „Benga Beating“. Jejich druhé album „Reprezent“ vyšlo loni.

Česká republika bude soutěžit v prvním semifinále 12.5.
