Za Island bude letos bojovat zpěvák Eiríkur Hauksson se skladbou „Valentine Lost“, která získala v islandském národním finále 60% hlasů. Píseň byla původně nazpívána v islandštině pod názvem „Ég les í lófa þínum“.

Eiríkur se narodil 4. července 1959 a patří mezi nejpopulárnější islandské zpěváky heavy metalu. Domácích národních kol se zúčastnil již v letech 1986 a 1987. V roce 1991 bojoval na Eurovizi za Norsko a sice jako člen skupiny Just 4 Fun, která vybojovala s písní „Mrs. Thompson“ sedmnácté místo. Letos bude zpívat již sám za sebe a za svoji zemi s anglicky zpívanou písní „Valentine Lost“, kterou mají na svědomí pánové Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson a Kristján Hreinsson.

Islandský reprezentant zazpívá jako pátý v pořadí během semifinále 10. května.
