Televize ERT zvolila automaticky interpreta, který zazpívá za Řecko na příštím ročníku Eurovize v Moskvě. Stal se jím Sakis Rouvas, reprezentant Řecka za rok 2004 a moderátor semifinále a finále Eurovize, která se konala v roce 2006 v Aténách. Řecko tak vsází na trend, který se objevuje v posledních letech stále častěji. Jeho soutěžní singl nese název „This Is Our Night“.

Určité země posílají soutěžit opětovně interprety, kteří již na Eurovizi v minulosti zabodovali. Z Bělehradu vzpomeňme například na Charlotte Perrelli nebo vítěze Dimu Bilana. Rouvas zazpívá píseň „This Is Our Night“, kterou má na svědomí populární Dimitris Kontopoulos – autor hitu “Shady Lady“ ukrajinské reprezentantky Ani Lorak z roku 2008.

Sakis Rouvas se narodil 5.1. 1972 na ostrově Korfu. Dříve se profesionálně věnoval atletice, byl řeckým reprezentantem ve skoku o tyči, od roku 1991 působí na hudební scéně. Vystupoval nejdříve po barech a restauracích, později i na různých festivalech, kde si ho všimli producenti nahrávací společnosti a díky prvnímu singlu „Par’ta“ se dostává do širšího povědomí veřejnosti. Úspěchy na sebe nenechaly dlouho čekat, na prestižním udílení řeckých hudebních cen vyhrává cenu za Objev roku a Nejlepší singl. Díky spolupráci s tureckými interprety začíná sbírat i ceny v Turecku. Na svém kontě má obrovské množství studiových alb i desek z živých koncertů. Řecko reprezentoval na Eurovizi v roce 2004 s písní „Shake It“, se kterou skončil na třetím místě.

Řecký reprezentant bude soutěžit během druhého semifinále 14.5.
